Frequently Asked Questions - Eyelid Surgery
» What is the right age to have eyelid surgery?
Usual age is after 40. But sometimes younger people have the eyelid features associated with aging so eyelid surgery is done for people in their twenties and thirties.
» What are the risks associated with eyelid surgery?
Generally eyelid surgery is safe. Potential complications include hematoma (an accumulation of blood under the skin that may require removal), infection and reactions to anaesthesia. Following the surgery, there can be a feeling of dryness or irritation in the eye that requires treatment. There is a possibility of a temporary decrease in sensation of the eyelid skin or impaired eyelid function that sometimes may need to be corrected by additional surgery.
You can help minimize certain risks by following the advice and instructions of your plastic surgeon, both before and after your eyelid surgery.
» I have chinky eyes. Can they be made to look different?
In chinky eyes the upper eyelid crease is absent and it's possible to make that crease.
