» Is fat injection safe?
Fat is from your own body and is safe.
» Does the fat survive in face? How many times does it have to be injected?
Survival of injected fat depends on a lot of factors, especially the technique of fat handling and injection. Injected fat contains live fat cells which take new blood supply, survive and even grow. Up to 50 percent of fat cells may not survive. To overcome this extra amount is injected, more than what is needed. Even then frequently another sitting is required to get the desired result.
» How long does the result last? Is it permanent?
Once the desired fullness has been obtained by one or two sittings of fat injection and result has been stable for 3 months fat can last for years. Of course it increases and decreases with weight.
» Are there any risks?
Potential problems can be- infection, fat absorption, asymmetry, undercorrection and overcorrection. These problems are correctable.
» If I do not have sufficient fat in my body can something else be injected?
Synthetic filler substances (temporary and Permanent) are available in market.
» Which areas of body can be injected with fat?
Fat can be injected anywhere in face, buttocks, chest or anywhere else where there is a depression or irregularity. Fat injection can be done to correct liposuction irregularities also.
» How will I look and feel after surgery?
The cheeks will be swollen soon after surgery and for next 3-4 days. But all that is not fat but only reaction to injection. Swelling comes down completely in next 1-2 weeks and you can appreciate the result. There may be black and blue patches especially below the eyes for first few days. You will need to take antibiotics and painkillers for 3 days.
» If I want further fat injection when can I go for second sitting?
Second sitting of fat injection can be done after 6 weeks.
» The part from which fat is removed does that get shaped as well?
Fat removal by liposuction can shape that part provided enough fat is removed.
